1 Jan 1890 Jahr - Tobacco Protest In 1980 the shah let the British have exlucive access to produce, sell, and export tobacco for 1.7M in todays dollars. The Iranian people were unhappy and protested this deal. There were two different factions participating, the intelectualls and the ulama.
