The Blitz occurred on December 29, 1940, German air raided the city of London engulfing many areas in flame. In the newspaper the next day a picture of St. Paul's Cathedral undamaged was posted and was a symbol to many that London was in a way unconquerable. Though Adolf Hitler later went on to bomb many different areas that were a part of the alliance there was a calmness to the horror, a piece of the war that showed that it was not over yet and that they still were in the fight. The British Prime minister promised that Britain would “never surrender” giving many a boost of spirit to continue the fight and to not give up.
