She and her husband, Thomas Fell, worked to provide a place of refuge for traveling ministers. They were wealthy and used their large estate in England for this. She met George Fox while he stayed there and was intrigued by his work. She ended up supporting his work. When her husband died, she married George Fox and they traveled together preaching and ministering to others.

She wrote many pamphlets and articles, including one titled, "Women's Speaking Justified By the Scriptures."
