-large precinct of red walls and yellow glazed roof tiles located in the heart of China’s capital, Beijing

Each structure was designed in accordance with the Treatise on Architectural Methods or State Building Standards (Yingzao fashi), an eleventh-century manual that specified particular designs for buildings of different ranks in Chinese social structure.
