1 Jan 1765 Jahr - Steam Engines (Economic and Social)

Beschreibung:

Cause: During the 18th century, materials were scarce so people had to think of ways to produce enough energy for the country. Originally, steam engines were invented to remove water from flooded mine shafts. Later on, James Watt realised why this method was not working for the coal mines, and re-invented the steam engine. He noticed that the steam engines were too weak to work in mines, so he worked on improving it.

Effect: Steam Engines and Coal allowed the economy to improve as it allowed better trade and transportation. Steam Engines helped with transporting goods to different areas. As well as that, it helped with the productivity of technology in addition to the creation of more efficient engines.

Significance: This led to an exchange of new ideas because with this transportation system, trades of all sorts of materials were possible. With the steam engine a crucial part of the train, it allowed for the transportation of ideas, literature, crops, etc. In addition to this, with the new steam engine, it fixed some of the problems with the mines and allowed mining for coal to continue.
