1 Jun 1941 Jahr - Germany invades Soviet Union

Beschreibung:

Lend-Lease: Legislation in 1941 that enabled Britain to obtain arms from the United States without cash but with the promise of reimbursement when World War II ended. The act reflected Roosevelt’s desire to assist the British in any way possible short of war.

Two months later, in March 1941, with an increasingly battered Britain unable to pay cash for arms, Roosevelt persuaded Congress to pass the Lend-Lease Act. The legislation authorized the president to “lease, lend, or otherwise dispose of” arms and equipment, without a cash payment and with a promise of future reimbursement, to Britain or any other country whose defense was considered vital to the security of the United States. When Hitler abandoned his nonaggression pact with Stalin and launched an invasion of the Soviet Union in June 1941, the United States extended lend-lease to the Soviets. This policy marked the unofficial entrance of the United States into the European war.
