Leif Erikson was the second of the three sons of Erike the Red, who was the first colonizer of Greenland. When Erikson was sailing back from Norway around 1000, he was blown off course and accidentally landed on the North America Continent. Erikson was thought to be the first European explorer to ever land on North America.
