Johnny Depp was furious and never spoke to iO again (until via speaker phone on 21 May 2016).

This photo was posted by iO on 21 August to no fanfare. Lily Rose then reposted to her Instagram a day or so later and by 24 August the media had jumped on the story.

“The entire point of this project is to help young people feel good being true to themselves,” the project explained on an Instagram of Lily-Rose modeling one of the LGBTQI T-shirts on their social media account on Sunday, Aug. 23.
