After the WWII, there were obviously two world powers -- the US and the USSR. These two world powers began a period of geopolitical tension. Though never were they in actual combat, but both were competing with each other in all aspects. They were both building atomic bombs and competing about whether who reached the moon first. Also, America is intensely promoting democracy to stop the spread of Communism.
