After WWII and the Holocaust, European Jews convinced other countries to create a Jewish state in Palestine (which was under British control). As waves of Jewish settlers headed there, the Palestinian people (who were majority Muslim), found themselves pushed out of their land. This has created over seventy years of religious, cultural, and ethnic conflict (as well as war).
