28 Mai 1830 Jahr - Indian Removal Act
Beschreibung:
The Indian Removal Act was signed by President Andrew Jackson on May 28th, 1830. This act allowed for the president to exchange Western Mississippi lands for the Native American's land. As long as it was within the state borders, the president could take and exchange their land. The main reason why this act was issued is because America failed to assimilate the Native Americans.
In the president's speech, he stated, "It gives me pleasure to announce to Congress that the benevolent policy of the Government, steadily pursued for nearly thirty years, in relation to the removal of the Indians beyond the white settlements is approaching to a happy consummation."
