1 Sept 1920 Jahr - Arizona Deaconess Hospital (Good Samaritan Hospital) accepts its first class of nursing students.

Beschreibung:

Description: Out of the 3 that were first accredited by the AZBN, this school seemed to have survived the longest. The school integrated with Arizona State College in the 1950's to develop a degree program in which students would receive a bachelors in science, but not in nursing upon completion (Shields, 1969).
Reflection: Nursing education was slowly transitioning into the college/university setting from a hospital based environment during the middle of the 20th century. Good Samaritan's willingness to be flexible with this transition is more than likely what kept them in the running for so long.
