Croatia's ratification into the EU helped them further into democratization. This is because the EU is founded under a representative democracy and they have to meet certain requirements. In order to join the EU the state had to have a stable government and rule of law, a functioning market economy, and adopt all EU legislation. This would help Croatia ecomony grow and evolve to better accomate their citizens.
