The Platt Amendment was a treaty between the United States and Cuba which gave the United States the right to intervene in Cuan affairs and practically made Cuba a U.S. protectorate. It was introduced into the Cuban constitution in 1903. In 1901 it was an attachment of the Army Appropriations Bill.
