ARC: Slavery was illegal in Mexico and that caused a problem for slaveowners when Texas was part of Mexico. Texas wanted slaves anyway so they joined the US. Many northerners were unhappy with Texas joining the US because it meant another slave state.
MIG: Many more Americans would want to move to Texas to own slaves and find new oppurtunities, now that it was a part of the US.
