In May 2014, I travelled solo for the first time. At this time, I went to Nepal and stayed with a local family while I connected with the local community as closely as I could. This was the first time I experienced deeply rooted poverty in an already impoverished nation. This theme would continue within my travels up to today. One of the main goals of my travels is to get an understanding of the experience of those in other countries and how opportunities presented to them impact their lives. This shows the lack of equity provided to people from these countries in comparison to developed nations.
