15 Jun 1804 Jahr - Electoral College is now used for Presidential Voting

Beschreibung:

The electoral college in simple terms is the amount of votes each state receives for the presidential election every four years. If we were to get rid of it we would most likely replace it with a popular vote from the nation for the president. This would decrease the influence of voters from states with smaller populations which is reflected in their number of electoral votes. The electoral college is quite anti democratic in the sense of giving some voters more of an influence than others. Apart from the laws that prohibit certain people from voting, the electoral college is the most inclusive way of voting America has ever had. It was also designed to make it possible the popular vote isn’t elected every time. Therefore, America's government cannot be considered a democracy especially, if a presidential candidate receives the majority of the country's votes, yet still loses.
