3 Feb 2017 Jahr - MB Hydro Announces 900 Jobs to be Slashed

In a major restructuring move and a "necessary first step", Hydro announced it was reducing its workforce by 900 employees to get its finances under control.

This represented 15% of the corporation's overall workforce (~6,200 people at the time). 30% of jobs cut would come from executive positions.

MB Hydro president and CEO Kelvin Shepard said this would mean between $60 and $65 million in savings, but would still be followed by double-digit rate increases for at least 5 years.
