-gunpowder explosion with the Allegheny Arsenal's employees (mostly female Irish immigrants) who were pressured to go faster. 78 died.


also: some worked as spies/scouts. At least 500 disguised as men in armies. Others stuck to domesticity as writers. -> men had to recognize women's contribution to the cause
