19 Apr 1775 Jahr - THE BATTLE OF
LEXINGTON
Beschreibung:
The Battles of Lexington and Concord were the first military engagements of the American Revolutionary War. They marked the outbreak of armed conflict between the Kingdom of Great Britain and its thirteen colonies in America. Most of the American military supplies had been hidden or destroyed before the British troops arrived. Eight militiamen were killed, but the British suffered only one casualty. The first shot was called the "shot heard around the world" by Ralph Waldo Emerson in his poem Concord Hymn. No one is actually sure who fired the first shot or if it was an American or British soldier.
