19 Nov 1794 Jahr - Jay Treaty
Beschreibung:
During the wars between Britain and France, Britain seized and searched American ships that were headed to France and impressing seamen into the British Navy. Washington sent John Jay to Britain to try to negotiate with the British and after a year of negotiations, he returned with a treaty in which Britain agreed to leave its posts on the western frontier but not anything on the search and seizure of ships.
The significance of this treaty was that it led to Spain, who saw the treaty as America drawing closer to Britain, to consolidate their holdings in the Americas, which led to the Pickney treaty
