Despite Mstislav taking a keen interest in the more burly and aggressive of the two brothers, Rūnōwulfaz is the one who takes a particular interest in the fact that their mother doesn't allow them out on the night of the Full Moon. The quiet boy decides in the middle of fthe night to leave their hut and to wake his twin, leaving Aurelius and Romana inside as they step into the centre of the village.

As soon as they do, they undergo horrific transformations, becoming the first Werewolves and immediately beginning to set upon their tribemates. The screaming of the victims awakens Romana and Aurelius, and whilst Romana is too afraid to enter the light for fear of her magic going awry, Aurelius does so to protect his mother from his younger Half-Siblings.

Leaving the hut, Aurelius undergoes his own horrific transformation and moves to attack members of the village himself, before turning on his two half-brothers. Whilst Rūnōwulfaz seems to be far more reserved, he is also far more crafty even as a wolf, and spends the fight distracting his older, stronger brother Aurelius so that he can enjoy the lions' share of the bloody feast he and his twin have created.
