- A march that aimed to present a petition signed by 135,000 workers that outlined their grievances over working conditions in order to inform the Tsar of their hardships
- People marched towards the Winter Palace carrying crosses and religious icons
- Often singing 'God Save Thy People'
- Once they reached the square outside the Winter Palace, the protestors were fired upon by Cossacks
- Tsar had already left St Petersburg after detecting trouble
- Modern Historians estimate that 200 people were killed and 800 wounded
