28 Aug 1963 Jahr - Dr. Martin Luther King jr. - March on Washington

Beschreibung:

Martin Luther King jr. (1929-1968) represented Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC) and was among the leaders of the "The Big Six" civil rights organizations that participated in the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom (Aug 28, 1963). Nearly 250,000 people (including 60,000 white participants) marched to advocate the civil and economic rights of African Americans.

Under the demonstration, King also delivered his iconic "I Have a Dream" speech, demanding an end to racism in the US. "I Have a Dream" is one of the best-known speeches in U.S. history, second only to Lincoln’s 1863 “Gettysburg Address”.
