The early consumption of wine or other grape derivatives (such as vinegar or must) is suggested from organic residues analysis conducted on Bronze Age pottery recovered from two sites in eastern Mediterranean. Alcoholic beverages were used not only for pleasure but also for nutrition, medicinal purposes and religious rituals.
