Shackleton decided to sail the James Caird back to South Georgia, where a whaling station was, to get help. He brought along Frank Worsley, Tom Crean, and Chippy McNeish, as well as seamen Tim McCarthy and John Vincent. This journey took a grueling two weeks before arrival in King Haakon Bay on South Georgia Island.
