British Col Ferguson marched to intercept the Patriot militia after the battle at Musgrove Mill. Capt Chesney was the rear guard and was fired on by Patriot militia at Musgrove Ford on the Enoree River. Chesney held the Patriots off for a day until Ferguson arrived with the main body. The Patriots withdrew the next day.
