A Tory force under Loyalist Cols Chaney and Williams captured Patriot Capt James Roberts and butchered several of his men. Patriot Capt Joseph Vince volunteered to go after the Loyalist. Capt Vince captured six of the Loyalist, tried and hung them near the "Forks of the Esdito"
