Just after 10 pm at Fords theatre Abraham Lincoln was shot dead in the head from point blank range by John Wilks Booth. His death resulted in Andrew Johnson becoming President who as we know did not make the best choices when it came to ending the Civil War and the treatment of the freed slaves.
