After The Ring Fight, Major Andrew Williamson advanced with everything he had against the Cherokee. Major Andrew Pickens and Capt. Robert Anderson were sent out scouting and they encountered a large Cherokee war party. They skirmished until the rest of Col Williamson's forces could catch up to them. The Cherokee fled to the mountains. Major Williamson burned the abandoned Indian towns of Tomassy (Tamassee), Cherokee (Cheowee), and Eustash along with .all their foodstuffs. Major Williamson and Major Pickens also burned Indian town of Seneca and built Fort Rutledge, named in honor of SC President John Rutledge.
