JOHNNY DEPP has been named the Hat Person of the Year by The Headwear Association. Other nominees included Justin Timberlake, Kate Hudson and Nicole Richie.

"Depp is rarely seen without a hat, and favors wide brim fedoras," reads a post on the Headwear Association's website. "The shape is enjoying quite a heyday right now; similar styles can be seen on Mad Men, The Adjustment Bureau and wider brimmed fedoras were seen on the Paris, Milan and NY runways."

Depp stole 38 per cent of the public vote, followed by Gwen Stefani who managed 17 per cent. Hugh Jackman came third with 16 per cent.
