Muhammad is said to have had his first revelation on Mount Hira. There he was visited by the angel Gabriel. Gabriel began to reveal to him what would become the Qur'an.
According to Oxford Languages the Qur'an is, "the Islamic sacred book, believed to be the word of God as dictated to Muhammad by the archangel Gabriel.. These touch upon all aspects of human existence, including matters of doctrine, social organization, and legislation."
