1. He contributed to the understanding of the atom because he was able to put together a wave equation that could calculate the energy levels of electrons in atoms.
2. An important experiment that he conducted was that he put a cat with a vial of poison. If the vial was to break in the box, the atom in there would've decayed. This indicated if the cat was superposed in alive and dead states, as well as the atom, but in a decay or non-decay state.
