7 months into the intifada, King Hussein renounced Jordans legal and administrative claim to West Bank, which in effect reversed the annexation decision made in 1950. Perhaps due to Hussein seeing a threat to his own kingdom and realising Palestinians (especially the younger generation) would never accept him as their spokesperson.
