On December 7, 1941, the Empire of Japan attacked the US base located in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, in order to destroy its air and sea fleet. The Japanese wanted to weaken the United States militarily, to be the only power in the Pacific, they also wanted to invade without any resistance British, Dutch and American territories located in that ocean.

The attack was a bombing carried out by more than 350 Japanese airplanes, destroying important boats, constructions and places of great importance, but it did not fulfill the objective to annihilate the fleet of the United States. The attack killed about 3,000 people, a blow to the Americans.

On December 8, the United States declared war on the Empire of Japan, entering directly into World War II in favor of the Allied side (United Kingdom, France, Soviet Union). Three days later, the allies of Japan, Germany and the Kingdom of Italy, declared war on the United States, shaping the final sides until the end of the war.
