On July 28, 1914, with Germany on their side, Austria declared war on Serbia. When Austria declared war, Russia stepped in to protect the small nation of Serbia. This soon became Germany declaring war on Russia. Russia was then helped by their ally, France, and as both armies prepared, it was known that war was going to happen. This began the conflict between France and Germany shown in WWI.
