Czar Nicholas II wanted to reform Russia with the many plans he had; but, he had to come to the aid of the Serbians and enter into WW1. The Russians were not prepared for the modern advances Germany and sustained many casualties and sent the countries economy into a downfall. The revolution became one of the biggest political events of the twentieth century. The violent revolution marked the end of the Romanov dynasty and centuries of Russian Imperial rule. During the revolution, the Bolsheviks, led by Vladimir Lenin, seized power and destroyed the tradition of czarist rule. The Bolsheviks would later become the Communist Party of the Soviet Union.
