For Dominic’s birthday, they all go bowling again and to McFarnes.

At McFarnes, Dominic finally takes Erika aside as they smoke outside. He asks what happened and she doesn’t want to talk at first, then he pries it out of her. Her story, which she tells in quick succession.

Her brother-in-law Joseph found her and Vicky, and adopted them. They live with him. He heard about HSA, knew she was a good pianist and artist, and had her sit the exam and here she is. Dominic still can’t believe it.

Just as they’re about to go in, he asks her whether she remembers that last night. For a moment, she looks at him and he sees it all there. Then she shakes her head and says she doesn’t remember much from those days. Dominic doesn’t believe her but knows what she’s doing. She’s trying to move on. Just like him. And she’s right. He has to do so too. They couldn’t live in those days anymore. They’d come too far.
