The Paris Peace Accords officially ended US involvement in the Vietnam War. Along with this accord, the North Vietnamese promise a ceasefire to give the US confidence in leaving. The importance of this negotiation was that it was a large ploy on the North Vietnamese's side. As soon as the United States had begun removing nearly all their troops, the Viet Cong continued to bombard the South Vietnamese in attempt to unify the nation under a communist government.
