The Prime Minster Julia Gillard and opposition leader Tony Abbott had addressed parliament in support of the recognition of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders people. She had stated that there were no regrets but there must be responsibility taken for the actions undone and that healing the nation is significant to the nation. “We are bound to each other in this land and always will be. Let us be bound in justice and dignity as well."
