A 14-year-old black boy was brutally murdered. Emmett Louis Till was abducted, tortured and lynched in Mississippi in 1955, after being accused of offending a white woman in her family's grocery store. This case had taken widespread influence over black people at the time, Medgar Evers had personally investigated the case. This was an act of discrimination and unjust treatment against black people.
