Leeland Stanford-- Opened a huge racing stable. For centuries it was believed that horses hopped. Leeland wanted to prove this wrong. Placed a bet. Had Muybridge settle this score.

Done on a race track. Line of cameras. When horse crosses steps on a wire a picture is taken.
