Beschreibung:
He studied the plant structure under the microscope. While being a professor of botany at the University of Jena, he published a book called “Contributions to Phytogenesis” in 1838, in which he stated that the different parts of the plant organism are composed of cells or derivatives (something that is based on another source) of cells. He also recognised the significance of the cells nucleus and was one of the first biologists that accepted Charles Darwin’s Theory of Evolution.
