Bracero program 1944-1965. Because of the war, Mexican farmers were used.
Cesar Chavez . Was in the United Farm Workers Association.--”Hispanics need to become politically active”.
He wants to make a labor union. So, farm workers go on strike. They ask for better economic conditions. They shout “Huelga”. They ask for better working conditions, housing, wages, no child labor.
White opposition to union brought a boycott against grapes and grape products.
After WWI, significant Mexican American increase in population. They become the second leading language and cultural group.
