The League of Nations is notable for being the first (incredibly feeble) step towards international peace and cooperation founded on the basis of Euro-American hegemony. The League of Nations is mostly notable for failing, as the United States didn't even join it due to obstructionism by Republicans to Woodrow Wilson, and the other powers never had any serious interest in imposing its stipulations by force. The architecture did ultimately inspire the United Nations though, a much more successful though similarly feeble organization that would inspire similar projects of European integration.
