Dan Bricklin and Bob Frankston developed the first electronic spreadsheet known as VisiCale, for the Apple II computer. After it's grow in demand, other versions became available and soon it was available for prsonal computers, allowing it to be accessible by all. At this time, however, copyright laws did not protect software sufficiently. This became a problem for Dan Bricklin and Bob Frankston as they were unable to obtain the rights to earn royalties from other products that were derived from VisiCale.
