6 Jan 1961 Jahr - Freedom Rides of 1961
Beschreibung:
This civil rights activity was mainly inspired by Rosa Parks. The freedom riders would ride busses across the United States to protest the segregation of African Americans and Whites when simply riding a city bus. They tried to use the amenities and restaurants that were “only for whites”. They were beaten by other white people who disagreed with their ideals and were also arrested and had to face an unfair trial in that they were guilty until proven innocent, which rarely happened.
