Astronaut Edward H. White completes the first ever space walk. Not only was this a success, but it was something the Americans finally beat the Soviet Union at doing. Edward was strapped to a oxygen cord with a handheld machine that blasted nitrogen gas so he could move around. Edward described leaving the space walk as the saddest moment of his life.
