Beschreibung:

Eisenhower led troops in Italy for 4 months in hopes to free Italy completely from Axis rule. Around 30,000 Axis casualties and 25,000 Ally casualties were left after this battle. Germany put up strong defense until they were overrun and Nazi rule began to crumble.
Significance - Italy was gained by the Allies although it was a bloody and lengthy battle.
