Leon Trotsky, a leader of the Russian Revolution whom originally sided with one of the revolutionary groups acting against Stalin and the Communists was exiled out of the USSR. He had already been exiled from the Communist Party and was exiled to Alta-Ata a few years prior. He never returned to the USSR until his dead outside Mexico City in the 40s.
